Airway Anesthesia Delivery

Manipulation of the airway causes numerous local effects including glottic closure, laryngospasm, bronchoconstriction, gagging, coughing and possible risk of bleeding. Systemic affects such as elevations of plasma epinephrine, tachycardia, hypertension and intracranial and intraocular pressure elevations also occur. Suppression of these events is possible using intravenous induction agents (if appropriate) as well as topical anesthetics.

The MADgic laryngotracheal mucosal atomization device enhances the clinicians’ ability to manage these effects and improve intubation and extubation conditions. The MADgic allows delivery of exact doses of topical anesthetics broadly across the entire airway including directed delivery onto the glottic opening and down the trachea and is used by clinicians throughout the world.
